Big Discoveries of Little Guests
Oct 20, 2025
In October, the Stupino Metallurgical Company, for the first time in its history, opened its doors to the young guests aged 9 to 14 — the children of CMK employees. The children were able to see where their parents work and experience the world of large-scale production.
The first stop on CMK tour was the Forging and Pressing shop. Here, the children witnessed an exciting process: red-hot metal ingots were removed from the furnaces by a manipulator and processed using a powerful press. The heat emanating from the furnaces and the red-hot metal added to the thrill of the experience. The children were also intrigued by the operation of the shop crane, which effortlessly lifted and moved massive loads. Surprisingly, the crane was operated by a woman, which left the young visitors in awe.
From Lab to Sky
The tour continued at the Testing Center, where product samples are subjected to rigorous testing. The children saw how materials are subjected to tensile stress, heat, acid exposure, and cooling to determine their strength. They learned that these tests are essential for creating reliable aircraft that can withstand extreme conditions during flight.
As a keepsake, each child received a color photograph of the metal structure corresponding to their month of birth.
The educational part of the visit ended at the Company's management office. The children were treated to fresh pies and stewed fruit drinks. The children noted that the treats were very tasty, but jokingly suggested that they were definitely not baked in a melting furnace, as the pies would have burned.
The young visitors were eager to share their impressions with Mikhail Kakovin, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Council at CMK, who explained that the strength and reliability of future aircraft parts depend on the quality of the metal produced at CMK and its ability to pass all necessary tests. He also reminded the guests about the importance of chemistry in analyzing the structure of metal and encouraged them to keep this in mind when studying the subject.
At the end of the excursion, Mikhail promised that next time the children would be able to meet the Company's artificial intelligence and create a painting together with it.
Aliya Musina:
– During the tour at CMC, I liked the large workshop with presses and a crane. We were told about the products that the Company produces. I especially liked the Testing Center, where my mother works as a planning engineer, Lilia Musina. They use sophisticated equipment and testing machines. Now I know what products the Stupino Metallurgical Company produces, and I understand the importance of my mother's work in the overall enterprise.
Polina Vyukova:
– I am very pleased with the tour. I have long wanted to see where my grandmother works, as she is the leading engineer of Laboratory No. 2 at the Testing Center. The scale of production and the equipment left a lasting impression on me. In the Testing Center, we not only learned about the capabilities of the equipment, but also had the opportunity to use a microscope to observe the structure of the metal. At the end of the tour, we were treated to delicious pies. The tour gave me a deeper understanding of the intelligent, hardworking, and hospitable people who work at the Company.
