CMK Metallurgists Honored the Memory of Fellow Countrymen-Heroes

For many years the celebrations dedicated to Victory Day traditionally start with a commemorative event at the memorial “To Stupino metallurgists who died in the battles for the Motherland”. After all, during the War years it was the Works No. 150 that became the main labor stronghold of the rear, providing the needs of the front with the necessary products during the Great Patriotic War. On May 8, representatives of the Company, the district administration, the Stupino Technical College and the Stupino branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute gathered at the memorial.

May 9, 1945 is forever inscribed in world history as the triumph of a united people, united against the fascist invaders, an unparalleled feat on the front and in the rear.

The head of the municipality Sergey Muzhalskikh addressed the participants of the event:

- I congratulate everyone on the most important holiday of our country - Victory Day. When the Great Patriotic War began, half of our city's residents went to fight at the front, the rest stayed to work on the home front. Tailoring shop sewed clothes, bakery plant prepared breadcrumbs, metallurgists produced products for the needs of the front. We worked day and night. Our president Vladimir Putin appreciated the labor feat of the people of our city and awarded the city a high title of the Russian Federation “City of Labor Valor”. This is the merit of our residents of the older generation, of whom we will always be proud.

Roman Modzgvrishvili, CMK Deputy General Director, addressed the metallurgists and the students:

- 79 years ago, our country's victory in the Great Patriotic War gave millions of people back the right to a peaceful life. Our people showed the whole world the strength of spirit and love for the Motherland, the greatest courage and strength. And we are proud of the contribution of our fellow countrymen to this Great Victory. More than a thousand metallurgists from Stupino were drafted into the armed forces, two hundred of them did not return. 1430 employees of the Company were awarded a medal for valiant labor during the Great Patriotic War. Six employees of CMK were awarded the Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union, one of them became a full cavalier of the Order of Glory. During the war years the propeller production of the plant equipped about 70 thousand airplanes. The aviation industry was 70% supplied with aluminum rolled products for cladding. 126 echelons of products for the front were produced in the shops of the plant during the war. Everyone at the plant worked hard, sparing no effort, doing everything to bring the Victory closer.

On the main holiday of the Russian people Roman wished everyone happiness, prosperity and a peaceful sky above their heads.

A lyrical note was added to the solemn event by vocal performances of Yulia Sapronova, who sang the songs “And there will be a month of May” and “Russia”, and Ivan Kalachev with the songs “Let's stand up” and “Victory Day”.
