The Continuity of Times and Generations: the Walk of Labor Glory of the Plant
Jul 20, 2022
History has lost track of when and by whom the idea was first proposed to place the portraits of the top performers of Plant No. 150 on the Wall of Honor, but it was this initiative that gave birth to a wonderful tradition. It is currently referred to as the Walk of Labor Glory. Every year, the portraits of the Company thirty top performers are placed in front of the CMK central entrance, and their faces can be seen not only by the CMK personnel, but also by the citizens.
As noted by A. I. Kretov, Stupino Municipality Veteran Council Chairman, the wall of honor was originally located by the plant management office. The portraits of the thirty top performers were placed thereon. Every shop also had a Place of Honour with its own Wall of Fame. Anatoly Ivanovich has devoted 65 years to service at CMK. He worked a major part of his service as the Head of Progress and S&TI Department. He was also responsible for updating the Walk of Honor annually. Later, the portraits of the top performers were taken to the square named after G. V. Vizirian. However, this is not where the changes end.
– In line of my duty, I have often visited various metallurgical factories where I have taken pictures of the displays and the walls of honor I liked, and we used those to develop our own Wall of Honor. And one day, the idea was born to take our Walk of Honor outside the facility, – Anatoly Ivanovich recalls. We decided that the shops would nominate the 20 top employees – from each unit in proportion to the number of the shop workers. The performance review was prepared for each top performer specifying each of their professional and social achievements. The candidate approval decision was made by the Labour Organisation and Remuneration Department. When the candidates for the Walk of Honor were nominated, the priority was first given to the blue-collar workers, however, white collars were also considered.
– Some candidates were overmodest and didn't want to be taken pictures of, but consented after being explained that their example would contribute to the working environment among the employees, – tells Anatoly Ivanovich. The Walk of Honor is updated annually. Just before the Metallurgist Day, new portraits of the 30 Company top performers were placed thereon and will decorate the square in front of the CMK central entrance for a year.
The nominees are selected by the CMK HR Department. According to Daria Shurukhina, Lead Social Work Specialist at the HR Department, the annual update of the Walk of Honor shows the continuity of metallurgist generations and preservation of the best Company traditions:
– This tradition allows for the best employees to be seen during the entire year, and for feeling pride in them, – Daria notes.
