Day of Remembrance and Grief
Jun 22, 2023
At dawn on June 22, 1941, Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union without declaring war. Its air forces delivered massive strikes against airfields, railway junctions, naval bases, places of permanent deployment of troops and many cities to a depth of 250-300 kilometers from the state border.
On June 22, 1941, the Great Patriotic War began.
On this day, national flags are lowered to half-mast and the dead are remembered. Solemn and commemorative events are held with the lighting of candles, laying of flowers at monuments and memorials.
The delegation of the Stupino metallurgists took part in all the events dedicated to this mournful day. The CMK representatives laid flowers at the memorial on Pobeda Avenue — for Stupino participants in the Great Patriotic War and home front workers, and also took part in a commemorative event in the park named after. V.F. Polyakov.
In addition to the Stupino metallurgists, the solemn meeting brought together volunteers, Young Guardsmen, members of the Youth Army, pupils of military-patriotic associations, representatives of the administration, deputies, institutions in the field of youth policy, as well as residents of the city.
Head of the Stupino City District Sergey Muzhalskikh, Chairman of the District Council of Deputies Alexander Sukhachev and the Dean of the Stupino Church District archpriest Yevgeny Ryapolov addressed the audience with a speech.
– “We bow our heads before the memory of the fallen, the widows of soldiers who did not return from the war, before all those who have lost relatives. We make a deep bow to our dear veterans for the feat of arms and selfless work in the rear, for that victorious spring, which was the beginning of a peaceful life” — said Sergey Muzhalskikh. – “Let us be worthy of the military and labor deeds of our fathers and grandfathers! And save the peace and freedom of our great country!”
All those present honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War with a moment of silence. The mournful sound of the bell broke the silence of the park in memory of the heroes of the war. Then there was a triple volley of rifles.
At the end of the event, a delegation of Stupino metallurgists laid flowers at the "Grieving Mother" monument sign.
