CMK Friends' Race

The competitions, which took place on September 10 at the Metallurg stadium, were organized by the Youth Council of CMK with the support of the Trade Union Committee of the Company and were dedicated to two anniversaries at once – of Stupino Metallurgical Company and of Metallurg Sports Complex.

– CMK continues the jubilee year dedicated to the 80th anniversary of our Company, and Metallurg Stadium celebrates its 65th anniversary. CMK and the stadium have a lot in common: not only sonorous metallurgical names, but also a common history, an active social and sports life. Therefore, it was decided to combine the two holidays, – Mikhail Kakovin, Head of the Budget Department, Chairman of the Youth Outreach Council of CMK, addressed the participants of the competition.

Eight teams participated in the race: three CMK teams, representatives of the Stupino Technical School named after A.T. Tumanov, a branch of MAI, two teams of the Community Center and athletes of Sokol Sports Complex. They competed in the Sports Day – the organizers combined the sports races into one big relay. The program included walking in inflatable skis, running in the "squirrel wheel" and other fun challenges. The main feature was the Olympic competition system.

Before the start of the Friends Race, all participants were congratulated by Sergey Kononov, Deputy General Director – Technical Development Director of CMK, Pavel Chelpan, Chairman of the Council of Deputies of the Stupino Municipality, and Nikolai Khanin, a member of the Public Chamber of the Moscow Region. They wished the teams successful competitions and a worthy victory.

First, the teams qualified by getting acquainted with the trials, running the track for the first time. Then the judges, based on the qualifying results of the teams, distributed them into quarterfinal pairs. The winners in the pairs advanced to the semifinals and then to the finals. All the races were held with musical accompaniment from DJ Artemyev and emotional support from the raging stands.

As a result of the tight race, the first place was taken by "Put k vershine", the team of CMK, the second place was taken by Sokol sports club, and the third place was taken by SuperJet – also the team of the CMK. The finalists received medals and cups, which were intended for the strongest, literally and figuratively. As Mikhail Kokorin explained, cups weighing 4 kg each became a surprise for the winners.

All participants also received commemorative medals and diplomas, edible gifts, and the sports festival ended with a salute.

– On behalf of active fans, I would like to thank all the organizers and participants for such a positive charge and a boost of adrenaline. Everything was very cool, unforgettable and interesting. CMK has once again proved that the best people of the town work here and worthily continue the baton of the workers who brought Stupino to become the Town of Labor Valor. I am very proud of such a wonderful youth in CMK. You are the best! The fest is grandiose and very remarkable!
