From Theory to Practice Is Just One Checkpoint

A regular excursion for students of Stupino branch of MAI was held at CMK. Its attendees were the students of the program track “Materials Science and Technology of Materials” of the TSO-201B-20 group. As the head of PCD Ekaterina Polukhina notes:

– The company has developed a range of activities to work with potential candidates – students for employment to CMK. Therefore, excursions to CMK are organized on a regular basis and they are aimed to demonstrate to future specialists – the potential employees of the company, the technologies of production of products from heat-resistant nickel and titanium alloys, special steels, used and applied at the enterprise, what types of tests and inspections the CMK products undergo, equipment of work sections, and labor conditions. Show where and how the graduates of the oldest higher educational institution of our city can successfully apply their knowledge.

There must be a reason that Stupino branch of the Moscow Aviation Technological Institute named after K. E. Tsiolkovsky, and since 2015 MAI, founded yet in 1956 on the initiative of Stupino metallurgists, has been a foundry of qualified personnel for CMK for many decades.

On this visit, students guided by the head of the Department of Technology and Automation of Materials Processing of the Stupino Branch of MAI, Professor, Doctor of Engineering Alexey Vitalyevich Ovchinnikov were able to see the work of work sections No. 510, No. 630, No. 001, as well as the Testing Center and its laboratories No. 1 and No. 5.

The words of Alexey Ovchinnikov confirm the necessity and importance of cooperation of the Institute and CMK:

– The internship at the Stupino branch of MAI is arranged regularly. During the first year, the internship is devoted to the materials that are used in industry, particularly by CMK, during the second year, the internship is devoted to production fundamentals – we study different technologies used by the company. The final stage is an excursion for students around the workshops of the enterprise – a direct knowing of the production. This is a final practical task, after which they will defend a subject-related project and report.

Students with a keen interest visited the work sections with working equipment and watched over the production processes. Many of them even today do not rule out that their future professional activity will be committed to CMK.

A student Aleksey Klyucherov called the last excursion a good helping hand in his studies:

– Everything that we studied from the books, we saw in practice. Thanks to the arranged tour, one may understand where theoretical knowledge may be applied in practice. And this is very important!
