Let us bow down for that great fight!

On the square in front of the CMK central entrance, the words of everyone's favorite song are heard: “... Although they are not twenty-five, they had to go through a difficult path. These are those who rose with hostility as one, those who took Berlin... ” In the hands of many people there are red carnations, a St. George ribbon, which has become a symbol of Victory, is pinned on their chest. On May 5, a solemn meeting dedicated to Victory Day was held. It was attended by representatives of the company's team, CMK honored veterans, representatives of the district administration, Council of Veterans, Stupino Technical School named after A.I. Tumanov, Stupino branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute.

May 9, 1945 is forever inscribed in world history as the triumph of a united people who rallied against the fascist invaders, an unprecedented feat at the front and in the rear, the most expensive and important holiday with tears in their eyes.

Vitaly Petrovich Shmelev, CMK General Director, spoke to the participants of the event, recalling at what cost the Soviet people got the Great Victory.

– “Today we celebrate the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The victory to which we went for 1418 days was won at a high price. 27 million dead Soviet citizens, thousands of cities wiped off the face of the earth, tens of thousands of villages, enterprises, 30% of the country's economy were destroyed. Despite all the horrors of the war, our country was able to rally military power, industry and stop the enemy on the outskirts of Moscow. Our fellow townsmen also contributed to the victory. More than 1,000 people were sent to the front, 200 of them did not return. Four Stupino citizens were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, one became a full holder of the Order of Glory. our enterprise for the needs of the army produced over 130 thousand tons of products for the front during the war years. 1480 CMK employees were awarded medals for their work during the Second World War. For the exemplary performance of government assignments, CMK was awarded the Order of Lenin. The war left its mark on the family of every inhabitant of our country and our sacred duty is to remember this, to pass this memory on from generation to generation, keeping the names of those who kept the freedom of our country, defeated the enemy. We low bow to them, wish eternal glory and memory!

Speaking to the meeting participants, Anatoly Ivanovich Kretov, Chairman of the Stupino City District Council of Veterans, noted that the Stupino Metallurgical Plant not only became the founder of the city, but also gave a second birth to Stupino during the Great Patriotic War, returning to the main site shortly after the evacuation. He also shared his childhood memories:

– “When the war started, I was still a child. Father went to the front from the first days. I remember how the Germans bombed the airfield in Krutyshki, how the houses shook from these bombings. At night, tracer bullets flew over the city, which did not allow the aircraft to fly over the Moscow defense line. Behind our house there were anti-aircraft guns located, which were also used to protect against fascist aircraft.”

The Chairman of the City District Council of Deputies Alexander Nikolaevich Sukhachev stressed that almost all aircraft during the Great Patriotic War took to the skies thanks, among other things, to the work of the Stupino metallurgists. Without this, there would be no victory. Today Stupino bears the honorary title of the City of Labor Valor, and this is the merit of metallurgists!

– “Today we remember the great feat of grandfathers and great-grandfathers accomplished during the war years. On December 10, 1941, a state of siege was declared in Stupino, and all the people stood up in unison to defend the Motherland. More than 13,000 metallurgists were evacuated to Kamensk-Uralsky, and after returning to the Stupino site, rolling production for the front was launched as soon as possible. This is an invaluable contribution to the common victory“ — underlined Pavel Ivanovich Chelpan, Adviser to the Head of the Stupino City District.

Ekaterina Shchugoreva, a 2nd year student of the Stupino branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute, thanked all the participants of the solemn meeting and all those who are not indifferent for the bright memory and the opportunity to touch history, passing on the names of heroes from generation to generation.

The sound of the metronome, resoundingly scattered over the square, frozen in silence for a minute, stirred up in the hearts of the meeting participants the memories of their families, those who did not return from the battle, those who fought until the last minute, bringing Victory closer at the cost of their lives, those who, overcoming fatigue, waged a stubborn struggle in the rear, providing the front line with everything necessary.

To the sounds of the song "Let's bow to those great years", the participants of the meeting laid commemorative baskets with flowers and wreaths at the memorial "Stupino metallurgists who fell in battles for Motherland".

Everyone, kneeling in front of the memorial sign, recalled the heroes of the front and rear, the CMK workers who went to the front line from the first days of the war, the workers who daily brought closer the glorious Victory, which will always be a symbol of national unity, military glory and labor prowess!

Let us bow down for that great fight!
